Hopkins Village is the cultural epicenter of Belize and the heart of the Garifuna Culture.  The Garifuna drum is a connection to the people’s African ancestry and plays a very important role in Garifuna music and tradition. There are two types of drums used, Primero (tenor drum) and Segunda (bass drum). These drums are typically made of hollowed out hardwood such as mahogany, mayflower, or other Belizean hardwoods.

Hopkins has recently become a must-visit place for many visitors to Belize.  It is in an ideal location for many southern mainland tours and has highly rated resorts and authentic culture.  Hopkins is an authentic Central American village that is warm and welcoming to visitors.
